What We Believe

At CHBC we believe that God is the Creator of the earth and everything that lives. When God created the first humans, Adam and Eve, they were placed in a perfect garden known as Eden where God provided all their needs and was in relationship with them daily. While in Eden, Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and brought sin into the world causing a separation between them and God. Since that time all humans are separated from God because we all choose to sin. God is righteous — meaning that God is pure and has no sin. We cannot have a complete relationship with God because of our sin and we have no way in and of ourselves to build a bridge back to God.

God’s greatest desire is to be in relationship with you — but sin prevents that complete relationship. Because God loves you so much the Bible tells us that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus to build a bridge between you and Him. Jesus was also perfect — He had no sin — yet He was human. Because of His perfection, He qualified to bridge the gap between us and God by dying on a Roman Cross. After His death, Jesus was buried in a cave-like tomb and remained there for three days. On the third day, which we celebrate today as Easter, God raised Jesus from death and gave Him a new body. Through Jesus’ death He paid the ransom and we can have forgiveness for our sins and be restored to a complete relationship with God.
